The event will be held at the Convention Center of the Federal University of Ouro Preto.
Ouro Preto, the first capital of Minas Gerais and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980, is one of the most important baroque architectural ensembles in Brazil. Founded in 1711, the city was the stage of the Inconfidência Mineira, the colonial-era independence movement. Nestled in the Serra do Espinhaço mountains at roughly 1,150 meters above sea level, its cobblestone streets connect centuries-old churches, museums, and colonial mansions. Home to the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), the city combines historical heritage with academic life.
You can evaluate the weather of the city here, and compare it with your own location. May is dry season, so we don't expect much rain.
As one of Brazil's most visited historical destinations, Ouro Preto offers a well-developed tourism infrastructure with a wide range of hotels, guesthouses, and restaurants. The city is compact and walkable, though visitors should be prepared for steep cobblestone streets. The convention center is located in a flat area of town, neither near the Philosophy Department nor the main campus.
The nearest major airport is Belo Horizonte International Airport (Confins — CNF). From Confins, take the Conexão Aeroporto executive bus, taxi or car sharing app to the Belo Horizonte Bus Terminal (Rodoviária), approximately 50 minutes. From there, Viação Pássaro Verde operates frequent daily buses to Ouro Preto, with a journey time of roughly 2 hours. Car rental is also available at the airport, but parking in Ouro Preto is difficult.
When travelling from the airport or between cities, we recommend using only officially licensed transportation. For ride-hailing, use established apps such as Uber or 99, which are widely available throughout Brazil. Avoid accepting rides from unlicensed drivers who may approach you at the airport or bus terminal. Always confirm the driver's name, car model, and license plate before boarding. For intercity bus travel, purchase tickets directly at the bus terminal counters or through the carrier's official website.
